ODE A PICASSO

First Edition of one of the first written tributes to the genius of Picasso, with an original drawing by Cocteau of a winged horseba ck rider. Cocteau wrote the work in 1916 but was at first unable to find a publisher. The clever typographical layout resulted in th e accusation from John Richardson that the book is a slick pastiche of Mallarme, but he does go on to say that Cocteau was the only writer to have understood the significance of Picasso's Seated Man.
